At FilmLab Academy, we know how important it is to have a headshot that captures not only your look, but your essence, energy, and individuality. That’s why we’ve partnered with Taila, an exceptional photographer whose passion is capturing real, unforgettable moments and transforming them into lasting memories. Together, we’ve created a headshot experience that’s more than just a photoshoot — it’s a professional preparation process designed to set you apart.
Meet Taila
Our Photographer Taila is all about capturing life’s most authentic sparks — the tiny glances, big laughs, and subtle in-between moments that reveal your true self. Her sessions are fun, relaxed, and personal, which means you won’t just be standing in front of a camera — you’ll be working with someone who knows how to bring out the best in you.
Her experience spans across dancers, actors, and artists, and she has a remarkable ability to balance creative artistry with industry expectations. Every image she captures is polished and professional, while still feeling alive and authentic. Taila believes that a headshot should never feel stiff or staged — it should feel like you.
When you work with Taila, you’ll feel supported every step of the way. She’ll guide you through angles, poses, and expressions to ensure your photos are not just beautiful, but strategically crafted for casting opportunities.
What Makes the FilmLab Experience Different
We don’t just send you into a photoshoot and hope for the best. At FilmLab, your headshot session begins long before the camera clicks.
Before the shoot, Lee-Challe and Tianna will run an in-class Actor Branding Lesson to help you define your casting identity. We’ll work with you to explore:
• The types of roles you naturally fit (commercial, dramatic, comedic, or niche).
• The energy and presence you bring into a casting room.
• How your headshot should communicate with casting directors.
By the time you arrive at your shoot, you won’t just be hoping for good photos — you’ll be walking in with clarity, confidence, and a plan. This preparation ensures that your headshots aren’t just professional; they’re targeted, intentional, and industry-ready.
Location & Atmosphere
All headshot sessions take place at the University of Queensland, St Lucia — a location chosen for its versatility, natural light, and cinematic backdrops. The mix of architecture, greenery, and outdoor variety means your headshots will stand out with depth, colour, and professional quality.
Sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable. Taila will guide you through every moment, while the FilmLab team supports you to stay focused, confident, and true to your actor brand.
How to Book
FilmLab offers two ways to book your headshot session:
1. FilmLab Shoot Days
We host special one-day events where students can all book in for the same date. Our first confirmed session is on Sunday 2 November 2025 at UQ, St Lucia. Spaces are limited, and once you secure your package, we’ll assign you a timeslot and provide all the details you need.
2. Ongoing Bookings
Headshot packages are available year-round. If you can’t make a scheduled event, you can book your package anytime. We’ll coordinate directly with Taila to arrange a date for you. Please allow 2–3 weeks’ notice so we can schedule your shoot and prepare everything in advance.
When you book, you can choose an ideal day, and we will get back to you on availability.
